Prospective Graduate Students

The CHANGE Lab researches various aspects of pediatric psychology and health disparities in adolescents, young adults, and their families, including but not limited to: a) health disparities in obesity and HIV; b) intersectional identities of race, gender, class, appearance, and sexual orientation) protective factors against stigma, discrimination, and co-occurring adversities of HIV, partner violence, substance use, and metabolic complications.

Our lab is dedicated to being a part of the solution when it comes to health related disparities and wishes to foster global empowerment for minorities and underrepresented populations. In order to achieve our goals locally and abroad, we need like-minded, dedicated individuals on our team.

Note: Dr. Thurston will be accepting a graduate student for Fall 2021.

Lab tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Helping develop interventions for stigma reduction and body appreciation in adolescent girls

  • Literature reviews

  • Data collection

  • Data management

  • Data coding

  • Help with manuscript and conference presentation preparation

  • Opportunities to attend lab meetings to discuss mixed methods research, pediatric psychology, and community based research'
